Services
provided include:
- Assessment – an interview to see if the person has a
problem with substance abuse and the nature of this problem.
- Individual Treatment Planning – goals setting by the
client to establish their hopes for the outcome of treatment
and what needs done to address the problems
- Individual Counseling – one on one counseling with a
qualified addiction professional
- Group Counseling – to provide support and education
in the recovery process.
- Family of Choice Counseling – counseling and support
for family members, lovers, and significant others of persons
with a substance abuse problem.
- Couples and Family Counseling – to support the healing
of relationships that may have been damaged through active addiction.
- Referral and Connection with LGBT- friendly support services
when needed.
Special Features of our program designed for the LGBT population:
- Group counseling that includes discussion of issues of homophobia,
coming out, guilt and shame tied to sexual orientation, and
experiences of discrimination or reaction from others regarding
sexual orientation.
- Special emphasis and understanding of the substances most
frequently abused by the LGBT population.
- The development of an individualized risk reduction plan that
addresses issues of high risk behavior and helps individuals
keep themselves safe.
- Specialized Groups for HIV+ individuals that address the interaction
of drugs of abuse and medications, dangers and risks of re-infection,
the effects of stress and anxiety on health status, social isolation,
and hopelessness and the development of supports
- Specialized Groups for Transgender clients that address issues
of gender, self and other acceptance, self and other victimization
and how a gender transition process is affected by substance
abuse.
- Family of Choice Counseling – counseling that welcomes
and supports the loved ones of addicted individuals and helps
them understand and support the recovery process.
- Our Drug and Alcohol (D&A)
program provides assessment services, individual treatment
planning, and individual, group, and family counseling for
LGBT people
affected by a drug and alcohol problem; particular emphasis
is given to the role being a sexual minority plays
in one’s chemical use.
