Counseling - Mental Health Services

Persad provides high-quality, culturally-affirming psychotherapy and psychiatric services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and HIV+ individuals, couples and families who are seeking to enjoy healthy and fulfilling lives.

Persad began its Mental Health Services in 1972, in response to repeated requests from members of the LGBT community who were seeking counseling from someone who did not judge or stigmatize them because they were gay. We are proud of our four decades of leadership and experience in providing counseling services to the LGBT and HIV+ community in Pittsburgh.

Persad Center is licensed by the Department of Public Welfare and the Department of Health to provide outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse treatment.

Our services include:

• Individual, Family, and Couples Counseling

• Group Therapy

• Support and Educational Groups

• Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management

Programs include:

• Substance Abuse

• Intimate Partner Abuse

• Transgender Services

• Counseling and resources for HIV+

We believe therapy should be an affordable option for everyone. Most commercial insurance is accepted. However, as insurance plans vary greatly, we will look into your benefit allowances. No one is turned away for lack of ability to pay. The Admissions Coordinator and our Billing staff will provide more details.
