Community Safe Zone

Dedicated to ending hate violence and LGBT discrimination in Southwestern Pennsylvania, Community Safe Zone expands on the successful “Campus Safe Zone” program as well as Persad’s already existing work in the area’s outlaying and rural regions.

Focusing on the counties of Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington and Westmoreland, the Community Safe Zone coordinator, Ted Hoover, works with area allies, leaders, organizations and agencies to create safe communities for LGBT citizens.

Community Safe Zone members and supporters are invited to take part in a wide variety of activities and events designed to draw together the people and groups interested in fostering a safe and welcoming community. Through town halls, pot luck suppers, program meetings, picnics, planning sessions and more, Community Safe Zone members can join Persad Center in making Southwestern PA a Safe Zone for everyone.
