Persad's Special Events

Persad Center holds numerous special events throughout the year that benefit our cause and mission. The events happen in a wide variety of forms including art sales, dinners, house parties, galas, and a glass sale. These events allow Persad a chance to interact with and meet supporters, constituents, and sponsors, all while working towards strengthening the region’s LGBTQ community and their allies.

Celebrate Life, Celebrate Art

Celebrate Life, Celebrate Art is our annual season of events, starting in February and culminating at our art auction in May. This is our largest fundraiser and the event brought in more than $250,000 for Persad’s Free Care Fund in 2011.

This event features an array of local and national contributing artists and galleries in an assortment of media.

The 2011 annual art sale was held at the August Wilson Center and brought in 1500 people. The auction’s title sponsor was UPMC and the signature sponsor was PNC.

SPICE Benefit Dinner

Spice is an ongoing series of private dinners prepared in intimate settings featuring local chefs discussing food and wine to benefit Persad Center’s services.  This event gives attendees the opportunity to enjoy a multiple-course meal in an extraordinary and unique venue, all while watching this culinary experience come to life right before their eyes!

We find the best local chefs and spirits to create a wonderful dining affair.

Studio Sale

Another annual art affair is our Studio Sale. This sale, traditionally held at Imagebox Gallery in Pittsburgh, is a chance for our supporters to purchase quality works of art donated to Persad throughout the years. This is a great opportunity to purchase quality artwork at a great price.

The Studio Sale is typically held in September.

Riverside Design Group Glass Sale

Each year Riverside Design Group opens its warehouse doors for a large, discounted glass sale to benefit Persad Center. The pieces offered include plates, bowls, serving dishes and more.

In addition to the glass pieces from Riverside, other vendors join us to help benefit Persad. In the past we have had vendors offering hand-blown glass ornaments, delectable chocolates and toffee, as well as discounted interior design items.
