Persad Center seeks to increase the emotional well being of sexual minority persons, all persons affected by HIV/AIDS, and the family members and significant others of these persons. As a community counseling organization, we will achieve this through:
  • therapeutic services for our clients
  • support for other groups and organizations serving our target
    populations
  • education of professionals and the general public
  • the development of new knowledge through research

The agency shall be client-directed and non-judgmental. We view those whom we serve to be the focus which provides direction for the board of directors, the administration, the staff and our volunteers.

Persad Center, Inc. is the nation’s second oldest licensed mental health center specifically created to serve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

In addition, Persad Center is an AIDS Service Organization providing counseling to persons with HIV Disease.

Persad Center is committed to helping LGBT and HIV+ individuals and the people who love them. Our staff of mental health professionals are trained to respond to the emotional needs of the LGBT community in a caring way that is sensitive, non-judgmental and culturally specific. Persad Center offers a variety of Clinical Programs and Services to fulfill our mission to increase the well-being of the community.

Founded in 1972, Persad Center has been providing quality services to the community for over 30 years.

Through strong commitment by the Board of Directors and from the generosity of the community, Persad Center is able to offer counseling services regardless of the client’s ability to pay.
