WHAT WE DO

DRUG & ALCOHOL SERVICES
DRUG & ALCOHOL TREATMENT
a hand rests on a person's shoulder

Persad Center recognizes addiction as a disease that if left untreated can result in a variety of negative consequences including health problems, legal problems, relationship problems, financial problems, and even death.

Persad recognizes that when LGBTQ+ people suffer from addiction that they may be better treated by a specialist who not only knows addiction treatment, but also is sensitive and competent in LGBTQ+ cultures.

LGBTQ+ identity does not cause addiction, but it may complicate recovery from addiction. Persad therapists are able to help individuals to stop addictive patterns and to learn how to live as an LGBTQ+ person without drugs.

DRUG & ALCOHOL DUAL DIAGNOSIS INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM

Persad Center’s Drug and Alcohol Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is the first LGBT-competent IOP in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. The IOP is a structured program for those individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues and who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy. The IOP is often a step down from inpatient treatment and/or partial hospitalization. To learn more about this program, click here.
