As the oldest LGBTQ+ organization in Pittsburgh, Persad has been the consistent thread in the fabric in our community and the need for professional, culturally competent therapy continues to grow. In 1972, as the Gay Rights Movement was gaining steam, the idea of Persad Center was created by two passionate Pittsburgh Leaders as a way for our LGBTQ+ community members to seek the mental health therapy services that they needed at a safe, and caring place.
